I mean, it can be a totally new era, the game seems to be new and it's a great fact to get even more players.. ehh if it's "better" than those 3000 games it's worth a shot??
Nowadays I see only random nicks with no usgn that aren't communicative at all (that or they're russian...).
When I saw the first screenshot from this thread I realized everything.
The game's now filled with russians (not being racist or anything) but it's not funny or competitive or anything when you cannot talk with the others.
And no, I can't befriend them because the reasons above.
In my opinion it's absolutely amazing to have so many players in the game again. Finally servers with standard game mode and real players on them. It's so much easier to just find a good crowded server now and it's a lot of fun to play.
I see your point but I still think that this is the most amazing thing that could possibly happen!
If you prefer to play with known people CS2D offers ways to do so: Password protected servers should do. Or just enable U.S.G.N. only on the server.
Also I really don't think that you have to befriend everyone you play with/against. Also you can see it as a challenge to develop tactics without even communicating

@ rzvthePsycho: think differently.
Back then when we all started, did we even know anyone? Well, nope. Servers were filled with a lot of players. Those who actually stood amongst the average/newbies, lets say those with good skills/high scores, usually were also people competent enough to talk with others in English. Playing on the same server over and over would lead to eventually see the same names. Even with full servers. You could slowly get to talk with the same guys, and in the end befriend them.
I believe, that's how i got to know more than 100 players in this game. Of course, PCS as a forum to gather competitive players helped a lot from 2011 and so on. But for 2 years (started 2009), i got to know people in CS2D like that.
Give it time. If we get a lot of players constantly active, you will find new friends to play with. But also, you can ask your old mates to come back and see for themselves !

I'm the minority now. They'll befriend themselves and care not about a random non-majority player.
Also thanks to @ xsiN who noticed my fault

They are removing Steam Greenlight and replacing it with Steam Direct, a some kind of new 'Steam Greenlight'
Steam Blog @ Closing Greenlight Today, Steam Direct Launches June 13 has written
Over the next week, a team here at Valve will be reviewing the list of titles that have not yet been Greenlit and will be selecting the final batch of titles to pass through the Greenlight process. Our goal is to Greenlight as many of the remaining games as we have confidence in. There are some titles that will not be Greenlit, due to insufficient voter data or concerns about the game reported by voters. Titles that are not ultimately Greenlit may still be brought to Steam via Steam Direct, provided they meet our basic criteria of legality and appropriateness.
If you are a game developer with a game in Greenlight that hasn't been Greenlit yet, please be patient as we review the 3,400+ pending submissions.

p.s.: This also means that CS2D is the last game that is/was on rank 1 in the history of Steam Greenlight
