After dealing with Outlast 1 for quite a bit, I wanted to give Outlast 2 a shot this time. Despite the fact that I have not been uploading my mods (until now), this time I give that a stop and will let you try my precious hand-made product. This may be called Outlast 2 but since we are not professionals, do not expect an actual copy of the original game, however, I believe this is something worth trying. You might not have experienced anything like this before, so I warn you, you may vomit, shake or even pass out during the play. Good luck.

Warning: This is a single-player mod. Please do not attempt to play it with your friends otherwise the game would be pretty much fucked up. Thanks for your understanding.

> Features
• Advanced health system. Find bandages across the world and replenish your health.
• The flashlight now has energy. Keeping it on makes it drain its energy slowly over time. You can refill its energy by batteries that you can find across the world.
• Door system.
• Advanced AI, which is indispensable for a mod like this. Villains are interspersed around the map. Getting too close to them or staying in the line of their sight would make you noticed. The chase begins when noticed, along with a short soundtrack to boost up the attraction.
• Hiding system. Staying on bushes makes you hidden, which then villains would not be able to notice you.
• Saving system. The batteries and bandages you are carrying or even the current energy of your flashlight are saved once you finish a stage. So in the next stage, you will always start with the same items you had in the previous stage.

off-topic Installation & Launching
• Download the .rar from the link below
• Extract the .rar to your CS2D folder
• Tick "outlast2" mod via the Mods tab found in the main screen
• Enable cs2d cmd mp_luamap
• Select the map "o2_1" and start the game

Warning: It is recommended to play this mod without additional scripts to avoid possible conflicts.

illegal Rules
• Do not share it somewhere else without my permission.
• Do not edit existing things. You can only add more maps.

Update (29.1.2020): Stage #3 has been released and a small bug has been fixed where your data will not be saved at the end of the second stage. cs2d cmd mp_flashlight is now automatically enabled. It is recommended to play from the first stage since your saves might have been lost (not a big deal though).

The cause of story being short is making things like this take a lot of time and hard to finish alone. And boring in some cases. Converting .wav sounds to the .ogg format would make them less quality. I knew that only small amount of people will try this mod, so I decided to make everything good quality just because they also knew this all is going to be a high size.

And of course, the sounds are what makes the horror games a thing. Keep in mind.

My hands finally reached this mod and I played it. There are many interesting features and it was very atmospheric in general. However the story was short and mod contains huge sound files, that might be compressed to .ogg (but it does not matter because this mod is singleplayer, so no one is going to download them from your server). By the way it would be nice to see cooperative horror mod in future.

Wow, I have so many questions... I did not know that custom gui and player configurations are now possible... previously you could just fake most of the stuff with lua, but couldn't affect player's original coding or change the hud... Unless I'm missing something, cause I haven't tried this mod yet, but it looks interesting, will try it later

@user Gripex: what a smarta... i said that i like Masea' mods for outlast1 more than for outlast2. I dont care about the actual game, since it's sucks to compare cs2d-mod and the game which you modding/trying to mod.

I know what he trying. And he tried well. Since he's doing anything with nice, but if it's not his problem - it's not really mine too. But if you know yourself that it's not really good to see not much interesting gameplay - it would have feeback like mine. I'm not blame him that he made that mod depending on the game which is boring(if he really tried to make similar thing), lol.

If you like outlast 1 more than outlast 2 I would particularly suggest you to talk with those who make the game and say make something better next time. @user Masea: is just trying to make outlast "2D", so if the 1st game has a better envoriament than the second one thats not @user Masea:'s problem.

Even if it's beginning and it's not outlast 1, but some more interactive needs here. I can't say it's truly nothing. I saw some details, some houses.. but really, outlast1 was better in that way, you had to walk through bloody scaring rooms, you need to return back etc.

Maybe what you did it's exactly outlast2, but i'll call this game boring if it's really like that.
