old DNS Server Changes

As a first step to upgrade the tech behind UnrealSoftware.de (and to safe money at the same time) I moved various .DE domains (including UnrealSoftware.de and USGN.de) to another domain registrar.

This may lead (or may have led) to problems when trying to access the websites or when trying to send mails.

In-game U.S.G.N. access should not be affected as the direct IP is used by default, bypassing the DNS resolution.

Thanks for the feedback. I will check.

The in-game error is most likely caused by failed avatar download attempts.

edit: My provider is using a special tag in the web interface which must be used instead of the domain name. I didn't do so. It should be fine now. Changes can take up to 48 hours to take effect globally because of DNS propagation delays.

@user Mami Tomoe: I don't understand you. What do you mean?

@user Gaios: Already did so for some of my pages. Most of my websites require a database though. That database needs to be moved as well. Also the USGN is interconnected with that database so the masterserver program needs to be moved too. This however probably requires me to update the game clients as well because the masterserver IP is hard coded. So there are some more steps involved to make it happen. But I'm working on it.

That was in Flash times. Flash times are over. Flash times don't come back.

@user Mami Tomoe: user DC merely moved the domains of the Unreal Software infrastructure to a new domain register.

This will lead to a DNS change as the DNS servers of your ISP have to refresh their lists for the new changes to take effect (albeit such effect usually comes in a pretty short of time, depending on the ISP). It has nothing to do with what you mentioned.

I'm aware of most old and new possibilities to bring animations to the web. Thank you for pointing them out √

My long term goal however is to overhaul the website completely with a responsive (mobile friendly) layout in mind. That particular image/animation probably won't be part of the new website layout. Therefore I'm not investing time to restore it.

I'd die to see the day where UnrealSoftware.de got mobile friendly! Gosh, hard to believe!

Will you import a APNG file if someone made one that mimics the old style it had?

@user Mami Tomoe: I don't really care. If it looks good and isn't super large I might do so. But again: Won't be part of the updated page.
