Hi,
could you please share the source code for carnage contest like you did with other games like CS2D or stranded? I really enjoy playing it with my friends but we would like to make some improvements to the game from the code side.

Carnage Contest contains network stack code with parts that communicate with the U.S.G.N. master-server. user DC only released the source code of Stranded 1 & 2 and CS2D because the former games are single-player after all, while the ancient CS2D used Blitz3D as main game engine prior BlitzMax and probably it used an entirely different network stack back then (or so I heard).

user DC has no incentive to release to the public the source code of CC due to it using U.S.G.N. networking stuff as I mentioned, unless he himself agrees to publish the code but stripping everything that is network related. That would be pointless though.

Yep, what user GeoB99 said. I don't share code of the online games because of the USGN and because it would be even easier to develop clients which mess with things (hacks, cheats, any sort of bad things).

@user Firkel: Are you expierenced with BlitzMax? What exactly would you like to imrpove?

I have no experience with BlitzMax but I have several years of programming experience so it would be no problem to learn it. What we would like to change is the logic responsible for item randomization from supply crates as well as the chances of them exploding because we have a suspicion that the current randomization is sometimes buggy, for example setting the chance of a "plane strike" to very low does not result in us getting that item rarely but, for example, seven times every three games. In addition, we would like to make small quality of life improvements such as displaying weapon icons when editing weaponset.

Sounds very reasonable... but yeah like stated before... I can't / don't want to make it open source. Mainly because of the included USGN stuff which is implemented in a very bad and insecure way and I don't want to make a full disclosure on that one. I don't worry too much about cheaters in CC because it's mostly played with friends.
